Magnetic therapy, also known as PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy), uses pulsating electromagnetic fields to improve the body's self-healing capacity. These fields influence the functioning of our cells. Every cell in the body needs an electrical charge to function properly: for communication, metabolism and repair. When we are ill, in pain or under prolonged stress, this electrical balance is disrupted. Magnetic fields can help restore that balance.
During treatment, a strong magnetic field is applied to the body at short intervals. This is done using a mat or applicator that you lie on or that is applied locally. These pulses have a particular effect on the mitochondria, the parts of the cell responsible for energy production.
Various scientific publications, including those found in PubMed, show that PEMF therapy can have a positive effect on accelerating the healing process in disorders of muscles, tendons and joints (see articles below).
In our practice, PEMF is used as part of a broader treatment plan. The therapy is suitable for people who want to support their recovery process in a natural way.
