Low-dose intravenous ozone therapy
In practice, we see that low-dose intravenous ozone therapy can make a possible supportive contribution to the recovery process. It is regularly observed that patients who use ozone therapy after a heart attack or stroke experience improvements in stamina, mental clarity and stimulus processing. In addition, they often report less rapid fatigue and better resilience in their daily functioning.
The article by Viebahn-Haensler and León Fernández describes the underlying mechanisms of ischaemia–reperfusion injury (I/R injury) and discusses how low doses of medical ozone may have a protective effect in this regard. I/R damage occurs when the blood supply to an organ is temporarily interrupted and then restored, as in the case of a heart attack, stroke or organ transplant. During the reperfusion phase in particular, a sudden increase in reactive oxygen species causes severe oxidative stress. These free radicals damage the mitochondria, leading to disruption of energy metabolism, activation of inflammatory processes and ultimately cell death.
